Preliminaries
Getting Ready
We work in parallel with your General
Contractor. Unlike conventional construction projects, a timber frame is built in a shop environment then delivered to the job site for assembly and erection. While the site work is being completed, our work on your timber frame is proceeding in a shop far away. As the preliminary stages of your construction project are being completed on site, we'll be collaborating with your General Contractor to synchronize our schedules. In preparation for the installation of your timber frame, the sub-floor must be complete and the foundation back-filled.
Site Improvements, Foundation and Subfloor
While we are crafting the timber frame, your General contractor will be completing the following steps on-site:
- Clearing and grading
- Underground utilities and water service lines
- Connection to sewer or septic system
- Installation of drain field and grading
- Excavation
- Forms and Foundation Work
- Construction of Sub-floor
- Foundation Backfill
Meanwhile Back at the Timber Frame Shop
We'll be selecting and milling your timbers, cutting joinery, pre-fitting and finishing timbers. All in synchronization with the construction schedule so that when your site is ready, we are ready. Then comes raising day.
