Storm water runoff is not clean water. It starts out that way, but as the rain and melting snow flows off roofs, streets, lawns and farmland, the flowing water carries pollutants such as fertilizers, oil, litter and pesticides into the nearby waterways.  The further the water flows before it is absorbed into the ground the more pollutants it collects. 

The overriding condition that governs the quantity of storm water runoff is the amount of impervious surfaces located on your property.  (Driveways, roofs, carports, sidewalks etc.) Storm water quality is governed by the accumulation of pollutants such as fertilizers, pesticides and other chemicals used around your property.
